September 8-11, 2012
The events of September 11, 2001 will be commemorated at the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania during a series of public events and programs held September 8-11, 2012. The public is welcomed to visit the memorial during extended hours of operation (9:00am-9:00pm) and participate in interpretive programs, led by National Park Service Rangers, educational programs, led by subject matter experts and eye witnesses, and special tribute events held on Saturday and Sunday.
Luminaria candle lanterns will be lit at the memorial's Wall of Names on the evening of September 10 and the official 11th Anniversary Commemorative Service will follow on the morning of September 11 at 9:45 am. The program will include the reading of the names of the passengers and crew of Flight 93, the tolling of the Bells of Remembrance, a wreath laying, and brief remarks.
