The 8th Anniversary

SEPTEMBER 11, 2009

There are many opportunities to honor the 40 Heroes of Flight 93 this year. The eighth annual observance of Flight 93 and September 11 will take place at the Flight 93 National Memorial at 9:30am on September 11, 2009.  Gen. Colin Powell, who will give keynote remarks, will be joined by many special guests including Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, former Governor Tom Ridge, Gen. Tommy Franks, country music star Trace Adkins and the Families of Flight 93. The service is free and open to the public.

Beginning September 3, 2009, the family and friends of Louis Joseph (Joey) Nacke II will embark on a cross-country motorcycle journey from Newark to San Francisco, completing the journey of Flight 93.  Leaving Newark at the flight’s actual departure time of 8:42 am and arriving in San Francisco on September 11th at the scheduled arrival time of 11:15 am, Ride With the 40 will cross 11 states in 8 days, raising awareness and funds for the Flight 93 National Memorial Campaign. The public is encouraged to greet the riders along the way, join for part of the journey, make a donation, and leave a tribute on a “mobil memorial” that will accompany the riders and be returned to the Flight 93 archives.
